Plácido Cota, brother of a leader of the Council of Women's Peasant Federations of Los Yungas (Cofecay), is the coca grower who was seriously injured by handling dynamite during the confrontation with the Police in Villa El Carmen on Monday. In videos broadcast on social networks, the moment in which Cota backs away after throwing an object is seen and in a matter of seconds a dynamite explodes, leaving him lying on the floor and with several serious injuries. An ambulance helped him to the Arco Iris hospital , where he is undergoing emergency surgery. The Delegation of the Ombudsman in La Paz indicates that he contacted the doctor Brayan Oropeza, who attended him, who indicated that his "situation is critical." The report adds that the wounded man was admitted to the operating room with a diagnosis of a traumatic amputation of the left forearm and abdominal trauma. His sister, Viviana Cota, confirmed that Placido was injured and had been transferred to a medical center. Through tears, she pointed out that "how we have to lose family for fighting for coca, just for being a leader they do this to us."
