A woman died after being run over in the south of Bahia. Security camera recorded the moment of the accident, which happened next to a pedestrian crossing, on Wednesday night (15).

The victim was identified as Jessika Mackenzie, 34 years old. Information obtained indicates that she was taking a walk and was hit by the vehicle while crossing Avenida Manoel Chaves, in the São Caetano neighborhood.

The images show that she was almost on the sidewalk when the car ran over her. Jessika was thrown about 15 meters from the collision site, hit the wall of a store and fell on the sidewalk. The establishment was closed at the time of the accident.

The woman was rescued by people passing by and the Mobile Emergency Care Service was called. Witnesses said that professionals tried to revive her for an hour, however, the victim did not resist.

The driver who was driving the vehicle that hit Jessika fled the scene and was not found until this Thursday (16). According to witnesses, he was speeding.

The woman was a trader, left behind a husband and a son. The body was released from the municipality’s Technical Police Department after an autopsy, but there are no details about the burial. The case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
