In a tragic incident at Ludhiana’s Guru Nanak Stadium, 54-year-old athlete Varinder Singh collapsed and died from a heart attack while talking to a friend over the phone. Singh, who had come from Jalandhar to participate in Punjab’s Khedan Watan sports event, suddenly fell at 5:30 pm as fellow athletes rushed to help.

Singh had traveled from Jalandhar to compete in the Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan Season 3, a state-wide sports event featuring athletics, baseball, kickboxing, and lawn tennis, held across Punjab’s five districts, including Ludhiana.

Singh had completed his long jump event earlier in the day and was watching other athletes when he suddenly collapsed around 5:30 pm. The competition began on Monday and will continue until November 9 at multiple venues, including the Guru Nanak Stadium.
