Una. A 67-year-old woman died in a road accident on Hamirpur road near Regional Hospital Una. The woman was hit by the driver of 108 ambulance while crossing the road. The seriously injured woman was taken to Una Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The woman was identified as Ramna Devi (67) wife of Balwant Singh resident Karmapur Tehsil Haroli District Una. On the basis of the complaint of the police, a case was registered against the accused ambulance driver and investigation started.
According to the information, Rajesh Chaudhary resident Vasant Bihar Rakkad Colony Una told in his complaint to the police that he runs a medical store in front of Una Hospital.
On Saturday, she was standing on the divider to cross the road at some distance from his medical store. During this time a woman started crossing the road but an ambulance 108 came at a high speed from Una side and hit the woman crossing the road on foot. Due to the collision, the woman fell on the road and the ambulance also stopped on the spot.
The woman's head was bleeding. As there was already a patient in the ambulance that collided, the injured woman was put in another vehicle and sent to Una Hospital for treatment.
The name and address of the ambulance driver was found to be Sanjeev Kumar, resident of village Stothar, Tehsil Amb, District Una. The complainant said that the accident took place due to rash and careless driving of the ambulance driver Sanjeev Kumar. Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Bhatia said that investigation of the accident is underway.
On the basis of the complaint, the police visited the spot and investigated. While the body of the elderly woman was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
