Plainclothes police officer fatally shot during a robbery in São Paulo - Brazil
Uploaded On:Wednesday 15th of January 2025

A 32-year-old Civil Police officer was shot dead by a robber on Tuesday morning (14) on Amaro Guerra Street, in Santo Amaro, in the south of São Paulo. The SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat) said that the criminal fired when he realized that the officer was armed.

Security cameras captured the crime. The images show the criminal – who was wearing a delivery backpack – stopping his motorcycle next to a dumpster full of rubble. Next, the police officer, identified as Josenildo Belarmino, is seen walking down a street, wearing a black t-shirt and flip-flops.

The criminal gets off the motorcycle and, when the officer approaches, he approaches the victim. The officer raises his hands while the robber points the gun and appears to be talking to people who are near the dumpster, which is apparently from a nearby construction site.

Josenildo is searched by the criminal and appears to take something out of his pocket, possibly his cell phone, and hands it over. The police officer moves closer to the dumpster and the thief lifts the victim’s shirt — the officer’s gun is apparently on his waistband.

The shooter then shoots at Josenildo, who still tries to run, but is hit by more shots and falls to the ground. He remains lying near a car, while the man gets on the motorcycle and runs away.
