A man who was asking passengers for money at the Gov. José Rollemberg Leite Bus Terminal (Rodoviária Nova), in Aracaju, was attacked by two employees of the concessionaire on Saturday night (8). Images recorded by a passenger show the man being punched, elbowed and being dragged.
The company that manages the terminal, Socicam, reported that the man was approached by employees, who ordered him to leave the premises, but the man ignored the request and continued approaching people.
In a statement, the concessionaire said that “terminal employees were called due to the presence of a man who was allegedly harassing passengers in the boarding area. After being approached, an aggressive reaction from the man resulted in a physical confrontation.”
The dealership also said that it does not condone violence and that the situation will be investigated internally to assess appropriate measures.
The State Secretariat for Social Assistance and the Municipal Secretariat for Family and Social Assistance (Semfas) said they are monitoring the situation.
The Public Security Department (SSP) reported in a statement that the 8th Metropolitan Police Station will open a police investigation to investigate the case. As of Monday, there is still no police report filed, but given the facts, a police team will go to Rodoviária Nova to collect camera footage that will help determine the dynamics of the events, as well as interview those involved and witnesses. In addition, the SSP requested that information about the case be sent through the Disque-Denúncia hotline, on the number 181. Confidentiality will be maintained.
