A man was arrested after attacking a woman with a knife and helmet inside a gas station in the early hours of this Thursday (13) in Balneário Camboriú, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina. According to the Civil Police, the woman survived because, in addition to the knife being bent, the victim managed to defend herself and disarm the criminal.

A video recorded the entire attack. The scene takes place in the hallway of the establishment and shows the object bending and the woman running away. The veracity of the images was confirmed by the city’s police station, which said that the crime was motivated by jealousy.

The man appears in the images attacking the victim from behind , striking her head four times with his helmet. He then takes a knife from his waistband and strikes her nine times. The victim then falls to the ground and the man continues the attack.

A woman appears in the footage and gestures for help, while the victim and attacker disappear from the footage. Soon after, they reappear and the woman manages to grab the knife from the man’s hand and throw it into the middle of the hallway. She is strangled on the ground, but manages to get up, get away from the man and run.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a local hospital with injuries. Her condition was not released.

In the images, it is possible to see that the victim and the attacker were wearing the same uniform, but it’s unclear if the two work at the location.
