A tragedy recently occurred in a residential complex in Chiajna, Ilfov, where a woman of about 35 years old died after being hit by a piece of ice that broke off the roof of a block of flats. The incident took place in an area where large amounts of snow and ice had accumulated on the roofs of buildings.

Witnesses claim that the woman, a young mother, was crossing an alley between two blocks when a block of ice suddenly fell from a height and hit her head on. Immediately, the witnesses called the emergency number 112, and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene.

The intervention teams tried for tens of minutes to resuscitate her, but unfortunately they were unable to save her. The woman died on the spot due to the violent impact. The tragedy deepened the pain of the families in the area, given that the victim was the mother of two children and the wife of the block president. The latter emphasized that the area was known to be dangerous due to the risks generated by ice accumulations, but adequate measures were not taken.

The authorities have already opened a criminal investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the tragedy. The police are investigating whether the homeowners' association complied with legal regulations regarding the cleaning of ice from roofs and the prevention of dangers for tenants. According to the legislation in force, homeowners and homeowners' associations are obliged to take measures to clean snow and ice from buildings, and if these obligations are not met, they can be held liable.

The tragedy also highlighted a wider safety issue in residential areas near the capital. Following the incident, the mayor of Chiajna announced that he would send inspection teams to check all the tenants' associations in the area and ensure that measures are taken to prevent similar tragedies. Also, following the incident, the owners' associations requested the help of firefighters to clean the roofs and remove dangerous icicles from the buildings.

Residents of the area said the danger was obvious, but there were no warning signs to inform those driving nearby. In addition, many of them mentioned that they knew there were risks, but did not trust that the authorities or residents' associations would take action in a timely manner.
