Uploaded On:Wednesday 12th of March 2025

On February 14, 2025, Wayne police responded to a single-car crash involving 34-year-old Connor Darpino, who was identified as the driver. After being taken into custody for the crash, Darpino was described by police as ‘argumentative and combative.’

He was released after being charged but later became the subject of a 911 call, with reports stating he had ingested a large quantity of Xanax. Upon arriving at his home, officers were confronted by Darpino, who threatened them from a second-floor balcony while brandishing swords.

Despite repeated commands from police, he descended the stairs holding the weapons, prompting Wayne Police Lieutenant Douglas Itjen to fire seven shots, striking Darpino five times. Officers provided immediate medical assistance, and Darpino was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was initially listed in critical but stable condition.
