Elderly man fatally shot during attempted robbery - Mexico
Uploaded On:Wednesday 26th of March 2025

A video shows 28-year-old Jesús Roberto walking with a firearm in his hand along Tlaxcala Street. Upon reaching the intersection with 16 de Septiembre Street in the aforementioned neighborhood, he threatened a taxi driver, but the driver accelerated away before the man could approach his vehicle.

Unable to achieve his goal, the gunman approached the gray Lobo pickup truck driven by a 77-year-old man , whom he threatened and was seen trying to open the vehicle without success.

It was revealed that the victim was Professor Candelario Pedroza Castillo.

Later, Jesús Roberto was seen leaning halfway through the window behind the driver’s seat, and suddenly smoke was coming out from the squealing of the vehicle’s tires.

Following this, the gunman opened the driver’s door and got out of the vehicle. However, the truck moved forward and hit the driver with its rear tire, who by then had reportedly received several gunshot wounds.

The video shows Jesús Roberto leaving his victim on the ground and running to catch up with the driverless pickup truck, which crashed into a pole housing the camera that captured the scene.

The last image is of Jesús Roberto, as he exits the scene to presumably board the vehicle and escape.

The video is part of the evidence being investigated by the Nuevo León Attorney General’s Office after Jesús Roberto left two people dead and two injured, including a Monterrey traffic officer, and assaulted at least two more people within a mile-and-a-half of the city on Sunday morning.
