Two men whose identities have not been revealed were brutally beaten during a supposed 'crime court', a type of clandestine trial imposed by criminal factions. Images of the attacks went viral on social media this Thursday (3). In the video, it is possible to see the seated men being attacked by at least six suspects armed with pieces of wood. In the middle of the attacks, one of the attackers orders one of the victims to put his hands up to receive the so-called 'cakes' - a common punishment among criminals to punish those considered traitors or violators of their rules. When the order is refused, the attacks intensify, hitting various parts of the victims' bodies. So far, there is no information about where the 'trial' took place. Security forces are still investigating the case, but impunity and the difficulty in locating the criminals are still major challenges. Cases like this are becoming increasingly common in regions where criminal factions exercise parallel power over entire communities. Without access to effective public security, many territories end up subject to the rules of criminal groups that impose their own form of justice. |
