The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) has charged Álvaro “N” with attempted murder following an attack on a member of the State Public Security Police (PESP).

The incident took place on April 5 in the Real de Sevilla neighborhood, where Álvaro allegedly attempted to stab Officer Manuel de Jesús “N” with a sharp weapon.

According to the investigation, the officer defended himself by firing his service weapon, wounding the suspect in the leg and stopping the assault from escalating. The suspect received medical treatment and was later released from the hospital.

The attack was caught on video, strengthening the case presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

During the initial hearing, the judge ruled the arrest legal. Though Álvaro chose not to testify, the court imposed justified preventive detention and granted a three-month period to conclude the complementary investigation.

Authorities also confirmed that Álvaro “N” has a prior criminal record, including charges of homicide, property damage, illegal weapons possession, and assaulting public officials.
