A shop cashier managed to disarm a shotgun-wielding robber with a deft move.
CCTV showed how the crook walked towards the man behind the till and pointed the weapon at his face.
The shopkeeper stood up from his chair and carefully fetched some banknotes from inside the till.
As he handed the bills over to the robber, he suddenly grabbed the barrel of the gun with his free hand.
He then used both hands to twist the weapon out of the crook’s right hand as he held the wad of cash with his left.
The robber then ran out of the store with the banknotes, with the gun-wielding shopkeeper in hot pursuit.
The astonishing scenes were caught on camera in Guarani das Missões, north-west of Porto Alegre, Brazil, on Monday (7 Apr) afternoon.
The 38-year-old suspect fled the scene but was arrested a short while later and sent to a prison in Santo Ângelo.
The police say he has drug possession, threatening behaviour and rape on his criminal record.
Although no one was injured in the incident, the authorities have advised people to remain calm and avoid resisting during a robbery.
