Three killed, two injured after bus strikes motorcyclists and rickshaw driver - India

Rajkot, India – At least three people were killed and two others injured after a city bus ran over a group of pedestrians in Rajkot, Gujarat, on Wednesday, April 16.

The incident occurred near KKV Chowk and involved a bus that allegedly struck seven to eight people. Eyewitnesses claimed the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The accident sparked public outrage, leading to protests, road blockages, and acts of vandalism in the area. Police responded promptly to restore order and ensure traffic movement was not disrupted.

“This appears to be a fatal accident involving a city bus, resulting in the death of three people. As of now, we haven’t received full details about the deceased. All bodies and the injured have been transported to the hospital by ambulance,” said Pooja Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) for Rajkot City.

Authorities confirmed that the bodies have been sent for postmortem examinations. Locals have demanded the immediate arrest of the driver, and police have launched a full investigation into the incident. Officials stated that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry.
