Pamekasan, Indonesia –A 47-year-old man from Lesong Daya Village in the Batumarmar District of Pamekasan Regency was seriously injured after being struck in the head by a marlin while diving.
According to Pamekasan Police Public Relations Officer AKP Sri Sugiarto, the victim, identified as Misnaton, was diving in the sea when a marlin attacked him, piercing his left ear with its long snout. Remarkably, the fish's head remained lodged in his ear when he was brought to the hospital.
“The victim suffered a serious wound to his left ear after being stabbed by the snout of a marlin,” said Sugiarto on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Following the incident, Misnaton reportedly lost consciousness and was evacuated by a companion. He was initially taken to the Batumarmar Health Center before being referred to Slamet Martodirdjo Pamekasan Regional Hospital due to significant bleeding.
Medical staff are now preparing to transfer him to a hospital in Surabaya for more intensive treatment.
“Yes, that’s the information we’ve received so far,” Sugiarto added.
