A 50-year-old man is dead after being run over Tuesday morning by a tractor trailer in which he was a passenger on Route 322 in Upper Chichester. Upper Chichester police Sgt. Christopher Jones said the accident happened just before 8:30 in heavy eastbound traffic on the Conchester Highway. In the stopped traffic the victim got out and walked over to a nearby store to get some coffee. As he was coming back traffic began to move. He climbed up to get in the moving 18-wheeler but slipped and was run over by the truck. Jones said the 43-year-old driver stopped and called 911. There was no suspicion of drugs or alcohol being involved, and no criminal charges were expected to be filed. The truck, which was leased from Ryder, was coming from California and headed to New Jersey. Further details were unavailable Tuesday. Haverford police assisted in the investigation. |
