A resident of Kostanay caught fire inside his own car.

Preliminary reports indicate the man took a gasoline canister from the trunk and possibly doused himself before igniting the fire. After the flames started, he ran out of the vehicle, and witnesses were able to extinguish the fire.

Authorities have not yet specified under which legal article the investigation is proceeding.

The regional Health Department confirmed the injured man was quickly hospitalized and is currently in serious condition in the intensive care unit.

Earlier in Kostanay, authorities investigated an incident at a city center for special children, where a teacher reportedly burned a child's leg with an iron. The institution’s director has filed a police report.
