A 36-year-old off-duty military police officer was arrested on Thursday (26) in downtown Tatuí (SP) for allegedly shooting two men, aged 46 and 47, during a dispute.

According to the Public Security Department (SSP), the officer, accompanied by two women aged 27 and 38, went to a store on Rua Onze de Agosto to collect a debt. During the visit, the officer got into an argument with the two men present and fired shots at them.

The victims were rescued and received medical attention. Authorities confiscated the officer’s weapon, and all three individuals—the officer and the two women—were arrested on suspicion of extortion.

The police officer was taken to the Romão Gomes Military Prison in São Paulo and is awaiting a custody hearing.

The case is being investigated by the Tatuí Police Station, where it was registered under charges including extortion, bodily harm, discharge of a firearm, and usury (charging excessive interest or fees on loans).
