Man electrocuted on busy street after high-tension wire snaps in Jalaun - India
Uploaded On:Saturday 5th of July 2025
Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh – A tragic accident occurred on Monday evening near Babu Palace on Nadigaon Road in the Konch Kotwali area, where a young man was fatally electrocuted after a high-tension power line snapped and fell to the ground.
The victim, Anoop Gurjar — son of Ramlala Gurjar and a resident of Amargarh — had been living in rented accommodation near Babu Palace with his family for the past year. He had moved to Konch with hopes of securing a better education for his children.
At the time of the incident, Anoop was at a roadside stall, eating Pani Puri, when a high-tension wire suddenly broke and fell directly onto him. The electric current immediately engulfed him in flames, resulting in his untimely death on the spot.
The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, footage of which has since gone viral on social media. The video shows a bustling street scene turning into chaos as the wire snaps, followed by panic and screams from onlookers who ran for safety.
Locals quickly gathered at the scene and expressed outrage at the electricity department, blaming the tragedy on systemic negligence. They allege that the condition of overhead power lines in the area has been deteriorating for some time, and despite repeated complaints, no meaningful action had been taken.
Anoop’s death has sparked widespread criticism of the region’s power infrastructure and government accountability. Citizens are now demanding immediate action and an investigation into the roles and responsibilities of officials tasked with maintaining electrical safety.
As the community mourns the loss, all eyes are on the authorities to see what steps will be taken to ensure such a tragedy does not happen again.
