A man died on Monday night (8) in Joinville, in the North of Santa Catarina , after clashing with the PM (Military Police). The incident took place in the Zona Industrial Norte neighborhood, around 11:20 pm.
According to the police report, the 34-year-old man had set fire to a car and fled. When the police found him, he hid behind a pole, putting his hand on his waist.
The officers got out of the vehicle and ordered the suspect to surrender, but he ran and, at a certain point, took out an object that looked like a knife and tried to stab himself in the chest several times.
The police asked the man to drop the object, but he ran again and hid next to a wall. The police used rubber bullets to try to restrain the suspect, but he continued to disobey.
After firing the non-lethal weapon, the suspect attacked one of the police officers. The officer then fired a shot to prevent the attack, and the man ended up dying in the hospital.
According to the PM , the suspect had no police record and was from Santa Catarina. The family told the police that he had been missing since Friday (5) and that he was using drugs.
