Police are investigating the murder of Makin Harris.

Harris was fatally shot around 9:30 pm on Sunday night outside of his home along Seventh Street in Barataria.

Police were told that Harris was at his home when he got a phone call.

He told relatives he would be right back.

Harris walked outside and approached a vehicle that was parked nearby.

The occupant of the car reportedly pulled out a firearm and shot Harris without warning.

Harris fell into a nearby drain and died.

The vehicle then drove away.

The police were notified and officers of the North Eastern Division as well as the Homicide Bureau responded.
