Bodycam video from Columbus police shows an officer shoot and injure Darnell Jones, the Toledo man accused of killing his 13-year-old daughter, Kei’Mani Latigue.

Jones has been charged with murder, felonious assault and abduction in her death. Tuesday morning, Columbus police SWAT officers shot and injured Jones. He is expected to survive his injury. Jones also faces a felonious assault charge in the Columbus incident. He has yet to be arraigned as of Thursday afternoon.

Jones, who also used the surname Ogletree, was the last person to see her alive before she was reported missing on March 18, according to police. Jones was accused of removing her from her home without her guardian’s consent and giving police “inconsistent statements about his activity with the victim,” according to a warrant issued for his arrest. He was later charged with her murder in documents issued Monday night.

Police who were investigating Kei’Mani’s disappearance found her body inside a home on Miami Street by Fassett Street. The coroner’s office has positively identified the body as Kei’Mani’s and said her cause of death was “multiple incised wounds of the neck.” The manner of death was ruled as homicide.

On Tuesday, Jones was shot by law enforcement after being located in the Short North area of Columbus after being confronted by SWAT officers from the Capital City Police Department. Brian Steel, president of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Local 9, spoke to the media regarding the incident.

“I heard about this case. This was an individual wanted for homicide out of Toledo. I called my union counterpart in Toledo. I said, ‘Hey, good news; we have your guy,'” Steel said. “Your guy committed a murder, chose to flee to our town. I’ll tell you right now, the wrong town to come to if you murder somebody. Our SWAT team will go out looking for you.”

Columbus police later positively identified Jones as the suspect in the case. Jones was shot by police and is expected to survive his injury.
