Two people are dead, and four others are injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Clarke County.
The crash occurred around 11:51 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 43 and South Industrial Park Drive, according to Thomasville police.
Officials report that a semi-truck and trailer, loaded with cargo, struck four vehicles that were stopped at a red light. The first vehicle, driven by 37-year-old Ashley Marie Springer McDonald, was hit directly. McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second vehicle involved was driven by 53-year-old Woodie Earl Beck III, who was also pronounced dead on site. The Alabama Independent School Association has confirmed Beck was a coach at Wilcox Academy in Camden.
Four other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. They were later released.
The semi-truck, owned by 4 US Transportation Company in Chicago, was driven by 45-year-old Andril Dmyterko, of Philadelphia, PA, with 31-year-old Denys Kucher, from Warminster, PA, as a passenger. Both men are in the U.S. on work visas.
