Doctor dragged 50 feet to death by speeding school bus; four others injured - India

In Bhopal, a speeding school bus, allegedly with failed brakes, tragically killed a 30-year-old ayurvedic doctor, Ayesha Khan, at Roshanpura traffic signal. The uncontrolled bus hit several vehicles, injuring at least four others, including a businessman critically injured. The 15-year-old bus, with an expired registration, was seized, and the owner detained as police investigate the cause, while the driver fled.

It is alleged that brakes of the bus failed while rolling down the Roshanpura slope.

The 30-year-old woman, identified as Ayesha Khan, an ayurvedic doctor, who was waiting on her scooter, was hit and dragged 50 feet by the bus killing her on the spot. Several other vehicles were hit by the bus and at least four other people were injured.

Among the injured is a 58-year-old businessman from Nasrullaganj, who came to Bhopal for his brother's heart surgery. He was said to be critical and admitted to the ICU ward of a private hospital.

The bus reportedly was 15 years & 8 months-old and its registration had not been renewed. The vehicle has been seized. The accident led to traffic congestion in the area while the errant bus driver and the conductor fled the spot. Acting on information, TT Nagar police cleared the road with the help of a crane. TT Nagar police detained the bus owner, and a case was registered. Police said the incident took place around 11 am when a school bus first hit a motorcycle carrying two men.
