A man and a woman died after being shot at near the Puyo land terminal, in the province of Pastaza. The victims have criminal records. It happened last Wednesday night, October 18, between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., on González Suárez and Alberto Zambrano streets. In the video, it is observed that a man remained sitting on a sidewalk, while petting a dog. Next to him was another group of people.

However, a suspect arrived at the scene and proceeded to shoot against the humanity of the man and the dog. He then attacked a woman and her group of friends.

The victims were left on the floor, amid the consternation of the citizens.

Later, they were transferred to the Puyo Hospital, but the doctors confirmed the death of the man and the woman, while a third person was injured and did not need medical attention.

The two deceased were between 26 and 37 years old and there are investigative processes against them.

“These deaths are selective, the majority of the people who have died have criminal records,” said Edgar Maroto , police command of the Pastaza subzone.

He added that yesterday, in the Santa Rosa sector, a person was arrested, who may have participated in the crime, while driving the motorcycle on which the gunman was riding.

While the suspect, who fired the shots, went into the brush and his whereabouts are unknown.

The Police also managed to seize the motorcycle and a nine millimeter caliber weapon .

So far this year, 24 violent deaths have been reported in Puyo, a figure higher than 2022, when eight murders were reported. “There have been no innocent people so far, whether because a cell phone has been stolen or for any other crime,” the police chief reiterated.
